Poppers Ultimate Guide

Poppers are one of my favorite ways to experience masturbation with intense orgasms. I’ve been using poppers for over a year now. If you’ve never tried poppers you may be wondering what poppers are like. So without further ado, here’s my Poppers Ultimate Guide to help you learn more about them and how they can be used (with care) to intensify sexual pleasure.

What are Poppers?

Poppers is a slang name for several chemicals more formerly known as alkyl nitrites. Isoamyl nitrite, or amyl nitrite and related products have the effect of relaxing the body’s involuntary smooth muscles and increasing blood flow, including the muscles in the anus and throat. The term ‘popper’ originated in the gay community, where vials of the chemical had to be ‘popped’ to be sniffed. For some, poppers also describes how the drug can facilitate anal sex, in other words ‘popping’ someone’s ass.

Poppers are often associated with the gay community because poppers were often used at gay discos, bath houses and parties starting in the 1960s. That’s changed a bit now, and although there’s still an association with the gay community many straight people, me included, have found poppers. We enjoy using poppers to add to our sexual pleasure.

Not all poppers may be composed of amyl nitrite, there are variations. An important note to remember is there’s little to no oversight regarding the chemical composition and manufacturing quality of poppers. This means you can’t always be sure exactly what you’re getting in that little bottle. When purchasing poppers, it’s truly a case of ‘buyer beware.’ Proceed with caution and read reviews on manufacturers before buying your poppers.

Poppers and the Law

In some countries and states poppers are illegal for human consumption. This is why poppers are sometimes labelled as tape head cleaner, room deodorizer and related non-inhaling uses. Check your local laws to ensure you’re in compliance before buying or using poppers. If poppers are illegal where you live, obey the law!

My Popper Experience

I have been using poppers for over a year. I purchased my very first bottle of poppers from the Austin, Texas-based Double Scorpio. I bought their Sapphire product. I can say Double Scorpio rocks in customer service. When I first ordered the product, the US Mail messed up my delivery. A quick email to their team and presto! A new bottle appeared very promptly and with no additional cost. Double Scorpio scores a 10 out of 10 for excellent customer service. The Double Scorpio website has good information about the quality of their product. I’m not a sales guy for them, but if you’re thinking about trying poppers you might want to give them a shot.

Poppers and Masturbation

I use poppers during my porn masturbation edging sessions. I masturbate, or more accurately edge, almost every night for hours at a time. I often deny my orgasm for several days, sometimes for as long as a week. I typically reserve my orgasm for Friday or Saturday nights. I like to use poppers for the extra intensity they provide when I orgasm. I only use poppers once or twice a week.

My very first try with Double Scorpio Sapphire was awesome. Because I had never tried poppers I was cautious and careful. I slowly opened the bottle and took the slightest of inhales.

The smell was somewhat acrid, but not bad. After my very small inhale, I sealed the bottle and waited.

“One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three…” after four seconds I wondered what all the fuss was about. Hmmm, no effect. I felt nothing other than completely normal. Did this stuff work?

Then… about 10 seconds after my trepidatious inhale.

WHAM!

I felt my face flush hot. My heart started beating very fast and very hard, as if I just finished a 500-yard sprint. I felt a pleasant rush in my brain, and the porn I was looking at suddenly became even more sexually exciting. My brain’s sensitivity to images of porn, as well as my cock’s sensitivity to stimulation, went way up.

WOW!

At first I was terrified. Would my heart rate continue increasing? Thank God it didn’t. It stayed at the same fast rate then gradually reduced back down to normal. And that’s the thing about poppers that makes them different than other drugs such as 420. Poppers are fast acting, and fast dispelling.

Poppers are Quick

The effect from poppers is really quick. After the initial wait of 10 or so seconds the rush comes on fast. But the rush only lasts for a short while. About 20 seconds after the initial rush it gradually starts to wears off. Thirty seconds after the initial inhale my heart rate was slowing back to a more normal speed, and the rush was dissipating. After one minute the effect from the popper inhale was noticeably reduced and at the two-minute mark I was back to normal. Rush gone, heartrate back to normal.

Huh!

So I took another small, careful whiff. Sure enough, after about 10 seconds the same wham impact of the rush hit me. My flushed face, rapid heartbeat and increasing sexuality once again came on like a ton of bricks. And like before, it rapidly waned until two minutes later it was gone. Heart back to normal, rush gone, everything as before.

Gradually I became used to the effect poppers had and made them a staple of my edging masturbation sessions by timing each inhale.

Like other kinds of drugs such as alcohol or 420, the brain gets used to the rush and you need more chemical to get the same feeling. I’ve learned however that with poppers there is a limit. I can get too much and side-effects can happen. More about that below.

Poppers Hypno Training Videos

Before trying poppers I watched several popper-hypno training videos and couldn’t figure out what all the ‘inhale’ fuss was about. Then I watched a video while following the inhale commands in the video.

Wow!

Like a blinding lightbulb going off in my brain all of a sudden those popper training videos I had seen made perfect sense. What an experience, what a rush!

In popper training videos, you are given commands such as; when to get your poppers ready, or when to shake the bottle, or when to remove the cap, when to inhale, how many times to inhale, when to hold your breath, when to breathe.

Along with the popper instructions is a variety of porn imagery and often awesome soundtracks. The whole experience of masturbating to porn is intensified with poppers training videos.

So I tried using poppers with many of the popular popper training videos. Oh My God! A whole new world of intense porn gooning, edging and rush-induced porn worshiping opened for me!

Popper training videos come in a wide variety of subjects, including:

* Gay, or turning you gay

* Bisexual, or turning you bisexual

* Sissy

* Straight (in various topics such as boobs, ass, cunt, etc.

* Domination hypnosis, often from a domme

* Themes, focusing specifically on a porn-related story

After I viewed and followed the instructions of many popper training videos I came to the conclusion some of the them were very well done, many were average, and others not very good.

Why?

After watching many popper training videos with poppers I determined the secret to a good video lies in how well the director uses inhale timing, number of inhales, imagery, sound tracks and pacing.

I realized, popper training videos are like Goldilocks. Some go too far. Some don’t go far enough. And some are perfect, right in the middle. I learned I want the ones that are in the middle, the Goldilocks zone, those that are just right in terms of combining all the elements.

So what’s just right?

For the best popper videos, the timing of the inhale commands, number of inhales per command, and subsequent 10 second delayed rush was perfectly timed with the images, music and intensity of porn. Meaning, the editing took into consideration the rush after inhale is delayed about 10 seconds. The better directors know how to time the intense imagery and audio to the rush. It truly is an art. And those videos that do it well definitely elevate the art form, giving you an incredible intense experience.

In addition to the 10 second delay, the better popper training videos allowed just the right amount of time between hits. Their timing between inhales was perfect, typically with another inhale command somewhere at the 1 to 2 minute mark.

Good popper training videos have inhale commands separated just long enough so that I wouldn’t die from my heart beating out of my chest from too many inhales in too short a time.

Likewise, good popper training videos don’t set the inhale commands so far apart that there are long periods of ‘normal’ between each rush. Like Goldilocks, good popper videos have the timing and number of inhales just right.

Here’s an example of what I consider one of the better popper training videos. This is one of my favorites. This video, Brainfriend Sissy Poppers Training has the subject of tits and sissy training.

This is one of my favorites because I find the inhale timing and number of inhales, the stunning models, excellent video editing, awesome music and audio tracks are all very well done.

Some of the poorer popper training videos had too many inhales, often almost back to back, which was way too much for me. Others had good timing, but the visuals and soundtrack didn’t align with the rush. Still others ended oddly, or had other problems that caused the rush to be less than it could be.

And in my opinion there are a few dangerous popper training videos out there.

The dangerous videos pushed inhales beyond what I felt was a safe amount, going into excessive hits with not enough time to recover between each. I realized that for me, and for the Sapphire I was using, they were way, way too much. Some of the more aggressive videos caused me to use so much that I did temporary harm to myself. More on that below. So use that cautionary advice from me. I’ve written more about the dangers, and why I don’t blindly follow all inhale commands below.

I watched each video but learned to respect my limits. Just because the popper trainer video said ‘inhale’ didn’t mean I’d do so if I felt it was unsafe for me.

If you want to use poppers with popper training videos just remember, you don’t have to follow every instruction. If the instruction says inhale, but you don’t feel like you should do another hit at that time, don’t!

Benefits of Poppers

There are several benefits to poppers that make them a great addition to your sex or masturbation pleasure.

1. The rush feels great and intensifies porn. I enjoy using poppers especially right at the end of my days-long orgasm-denial sessions. I find the rush the poppers give me at orgasm takes the final part of my edging, and my orgasm, to a whole new level.

2. The effect is very short-lived. Another nice thing about poppers is the effect is temporary and very short. There’s a delay of roughly 10 seconds from when you inhale until when the rush and high heart rate kicks in. Once that happens, the rush starts to wear off quickly, and your heart will slow down to a more normal rate after a minute or two. After sixty seconds most of the effect is gone, and after about 120 seconds you’re back to normal.

3. Poppers relax your ass so that if you want to experiment with anal sex, you can. Inserting fingers, dildos, dicks etc. into your ass is much easier with poppers because they relax your anus muscles. Thus one of the reasons for the name ‘poppers!’

4. I believe based on my experience poppers have no apparent long-term impact. Unlike other drugs I’ve tried, poppers have no apparent long-term addiction danger. To put this in context, I tried 420 when I was in college. I needed more and more 420 to get the same high, and the brain-numbing effect the 420 gave me seemed to last longer and longer the more I used it. My fuzzy brain would last for days, then weeks at a time. Eventually I quit 420, because I was convinced I had permanently damaged my brain. I believe 420 made me a bit dumber, less focused, slower cognitively. Some potheads may disagree with me, but for myself I found out why 420 is also known as ‘dope.’ But that’s not the case with poppers. I feel no ill-effect after the rush goes away. I feel like I have full use of my cognitive abilities. And I don’t feel a craving for poppers like I did with 420.

5. A small bottle of poppers lasts a long time, depending on how much you inhale. I’ve been using a single bottle of poppers for months. I keep it sealed tightly in a plastic bag when I’m not using it, to keep air out and the vapor in. That single bottle has given me round after round of extra intense orgasms for weeks and months. When you factor in all the times I’ve used it, that little bottle has been one of the cheaper sex investments I’ve made.

Dangers of Poppers

But beware, there are dangers with poppers, as there are with any chemical. There are a few more significant dangers with poppers, and to my knowledge there’s been no exhaustive clinical studies on them with humans. So I urge caution. Here’s my list of dangers:

1. First, poppers increase heart rate alarmingly high. When the rush kicks in, your heart will start beating hard, often at five or ten times your normal rate. You’ll swear your heart is coming out of your chest. To me, it feels like I just ran up a flight of a hundred steps the way my heart beats so hard and so fast. Anyone with known or unknown heart conditions should be aware of this. It might be wise to get professional medical advice before trying poppers, especially if you have a history of heart problems in your family. Poppers open up your blood vessels, having the effect of reducing blood pressure. Don’t use them if you’re using other drugs to control your blood pressure or your heart.

2. Second, during one of those bad popper training videos with what turned out to be an excessive amount of inhales, I started to see an orange circle in the center of my vision. I got scared when the round orange hole appeared in the center of my vision and didn’t go away. I stopped using poppers immediately.

What did the orange circle look like? Imagine looking at a bright light, then looking away. That ghost image where the bright light had been gets temporarily burned in your retina. That’s the same thing I was seeing, but I hadn’t looked at a bright light. I can’t prove it, but I think too much of the popper caused the orange circle.

I immediately stopped inhaling poppers. But even so it took about an hour before the orange circle finally went away. From that time on, I’ve been very careful and selective about how much I inhale. I now only use poppers once or twice a week. I reserve poppers for the end of my weekly edging sessions, when I’m watching a popper training video and want to experience an extra-intense orgasm induced by a popper rush. Because I’m more careful now, I enjoy the rush and have had no visual problems since.

I am also much more careful about how much I inhale. I inhale less than I used to. I also take longer breaks between inhales. I take it easy and don’t follow all of the inhale commands from some of the more aggressive popper training videos.

3. Erectile disfunction happens to me when I use poppers. For me personally, my erect penis softens when the rush kicks in. My penis goes back to being fully hard after the effect has gone away, after about a minute to two minutes. The strange thing is the intensity of feeling in my cock is still amazing and strong as ever, but it is a bit strange to be stroking a semi-flaccid cock.

I’ve read some of the other descriptions from popper users and I don’t see others mentioning this side effect. I suspect it’s a coupling of minor ED (Erectile Disfunction) in me because of my age, coupled with the reduced blood pressure caused by the blood vessels opening up from the poppers. So maybe this is just an impact I’m having personally, and not what the general public experiences when using poppers. If it happens to you like it does to me be cautious. For me I don’t worry, the orgasm and intense feelings are still there, just with a softer penis. And about two minutes or so after an inhale I’m able to get fully hard again. You may not experience this effect.

4. Throat irritation can be annoying and longer lasting. After using poppers heavily I noticed I picked up a bit of a cough caused by my throat being irritated. This irritation can last for a day to several days, depending on how much I was inhaling. I’ve learned to keep the bottle out of my nose, and a little away from my nostrils, say an inch to half-inch away from my nose when I inhale. I think that helps mix air with the fumes, which seems to reduce the irritation in my throat. As I mentioned before I also take it easy on poppers and don’t inhale too much.

Perhaps this is a side effect of unique to the product I’m using, but I suspect most poppers do the same thing. I’ll try a different brand and let you know.

5. Nose irritation is also annoying and can last several days. I believe touching the fluid on the top of the bottle to your nose should be avoided. When I did put the bottle to my nose the liquid amyl nitrite caused a sort of a burn or irritation to the skin at the base of my nose. It feels like if you’ve had a cold and rubbed your nose raw with tissues. It took almost a week for the skin under my nose to repair itself. I’ve learned not to touch the bottle to my nose and that seems to have fixed that problem nicely.

6. In my experience and based on everything I’ve read poppers are not addictive. But the rush-intensified orgasm caused by poppers might be. The orgasm during a rush from poppers makes me crave more intense orgasms using poppers. I still have ‘normal’ orgasms without poppers that I enjoy a lot, but like I said about once a week I enjoy the intense orgasm caused by the popper rush.

Let me repeat; in my experience poppers are not addictive, but the intense sexual feeling of an orgasm during a popper rush might be.

What I mean by poppers are not addictive to me is after a session I do not crave poppers and I do not feel any need to inhale them. Unlike 420, nicotine or sugar, I don’t feel an urge to keep going back for more poppers after using poppers. I’m perfectly fine going through my day or week or even month with no thought to poppers at all. The urge comes when I’m masturbating and want the popper-intensified orgasmic rush. That’s when I think about poppers.

Still, it’s something to be aware of. Once you start using poppers for your sexual gratification and rush-intensified orgasms, you may want more of the popper-induced orgasms.

7. It takes more inhales to get the same effect. I need more popper inhales to get the same rush effect compared to the very first inhale.

In that regard poppers are like 420 or alcohol. When I was young, dumb and full of cum at University I tried 420 for a while. I noticed that it took more and more 420 to get the same high. Eventually I quit 420, mostly because it was taking large amounts to get the same high. And partly because I’m convinced it damaged my cognitive abilities. Turns out there’s a chemical reason for why you need more and more 420 to get the same high, but I won’t go into the chemistry of blocked dopamine nerve receptors in your brain in this article.

Popper inhales are somewhat similar in that I need more of them to get the same rush. It’s taking me more than the original, tentative, tiny whiff of my very first try of poppers to get the same effect. That’s another reason why I reserve poppers for the end of a week-long edging session. I only take poppers when I’m ready for my amazingly-intense orgasm. I use poppers for the rush that takes me to orgasmic nirvana. I hope that strategy will help me continue to enjoy small, safer amounts of poppers for years and years.
